Data Protection and Privacy
One of the biggest concerns for users of electronic communications is the ease with which their digitized personal information can be accessed and used for unauthorised purposes. We have all had to deal with an overflowing inbox of SPAM and one of the hottest debates since the arrival of e-mail and internet usage in the workplace has been the issue of monitoring of employees by their employers.
While SA is still coming to terms with these issues, new legislation is on the cards for the near future which will regulate what we can and cannot do and have done to our personal information and communications.
We can assist you with the following:
- drafting electronic communications, data protection and privacy policies
- advise and guidance on interception and monitoring practices
- advise and guidance on compliance with data protection laws in other jurisdictions
- prosecuting and defending privacy infringement claims
